On Wednesday night, September 7, a man was killed in a wrong way crash on the Interstate 65.
According to Alabama State Troopers the accident happened at 10 p.m. near exit 282 in Warrior. Previously 36 year old Donald Horsby Wright II of Hanceville refused to stop for Warrior police and then drove off in the wrong direction on I-65 south and collided with a Ford Ranger being driven by 67 year old James Richard Olvey of Birmingham.
Olvey was declared dead at the scene and Wright was transported to UAB Hospital with minor injuries and then booked into the Jefferson County Jail, charged with murder and was being held there without bond. According to troopers a preliminary investigation shows alcohol was a factor in the crash.
