Crossing Accidents in Alabama

In Colbert County there have been five or six rail crossing accidents in the past 10 years and across the country around every three hours a person or a vehicle is hit at a railroad crossing by a train.

On Wednesday afternoon, April 12 a man from Cherokee was killed on Red Rock Road, west of Tuscumbia, when an eastbound freight train struck his vehicle. There are three main rail lines in the area and the trains go to Birmingham, Memphis and Chattanooga which means there are several crossings.
