Selma Woman Killed and Six Injured in Three Vehicle Collision

On Sunday afternoon, October 9, a Selma woman was killed and six others injured in a three vehicle collision in Wilcox County.

According to Alabama State Troopers, the crash happened at about 1 p.m. on Alabama 5, some five miles south of Safford. A 2006 Chevrolet Express van being driven by 79 year old Arthur Lee Brown collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by 57 year old David Edward Duke of McCalla, A second Silverado then crashed into both vehicles.

Brown was taken to Vaughn Regional Medical Center in Selma along with five other passengers including 69 year old Ora Dee Whit, who was pronounced dead a short time later. The condition of the others is not known.

Duke, the driver of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, was not injured in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
